Editorial Policy
Korea Tax Guide for Foreigners publishes general educational content for foreigners living, working, studying, or freelancing in Korea. Our goal is to explain common Korean tax terms, Hometax procedures, tax document workflows, and related administrative concepts in clear English.
Publication and attribution
Korea Tax Guide for Foreigners publishes and maintains these guides. A publisher byline identifies the publication responsible for the page. It does not assert that a licensed accountant, tax agent, lawyer, or immigration adviser has reviewed a reader's case.
How to use our sources
For a tax rule, start with the applicable law and the National Tax Service's guidance for the relevant year. For an immigration document request, check Hi Korea or the receiving immigration office; a tax certificate's existence does not establish that it will satisfy a visa requirement. Government24 and Hometax explain certificate and online service procedures, while Wetax covers local-tax services.
A specific official notice, publication, law provision, or service description is stronger evidence for a claim than an agency homepage. Links labelled “Service portal” provide navigation only. If a guide has only portal links, do not treat those links as verification of a particular tax rate, filing exception, or benefit.
Official publications also have a scope: a guide published in 2026 may explain a return for 2025 income. Check the income year and effective date rather than relying on the year in a title. An older publication is not evidence that an unchanged rule applies today.
What review and update dates mean
“Last reviewed” records an editorial review of the page; “Last updated” records a content revision. These dates do not guarantee that every linked service or law remains unchanged, and they do not imply professional certification. The source's own date and applicable tax year still matter.
When an article is checked against a dated official guide, it should identify that guide and its tax year. A menu path describes the cited official instructions, not a promise that every account has the same screens. We do not present reconstructed screens or examples as screenshots of a reader's account.
Examples, calculations, and distinct guide topics
Illustrative people, amounts, and checklists help explain a process. They are not a refund promise, an individualized tax calculation, or proof of eligibility. A simplified example should state what it leaves out.
Guides about similar subjects serve different tasks: deciding whether to file, preparing a return, choosing a certificate, or resolving a document problem. Follow the related guide for the next task rather than assuming one page covers the entire process.
What we do not provide
This website does not provide personalized tax, legal, immigration, accounting, refund, or filing advice. We do not guarantee refunds, tax savings, filing outcomes, visa outcomes, or document acceptance by any institution.
